Jimmy Kimmel Enlists Messi the Dog in His Beef with Matt Damon

If you made it all the way through The Oscars, and no shame if you didn't considering the show was an overall snooze-fest and Daylight Savings Time made us all ready for ni-ni at 6 PM, then you may have caught the absolutely adorable dog from Anatomy of a Fall clapping in the audience.

Well, at the very end of the show the aforementioned dog, named Messi, did a lot more than clapping when egged on by Oscar host Jimmy Kimmel.

After the credits for the show ended, cameras showed the adorable 7-year-old Border Collie Messi doing his business on Matt Damon's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and running off before he got in trouble.

This faux feud between Kimmel and Damon has been going on for some two decades and it's involved them taking swipes at each other and even attempting couples' counseling to resolve their issues.

Kimmel had also rehearsed some of his Oscar jokes with Messi before the big show, and Messi's reaction says it all.

Messi the Dog Wasn't Actually at the Oscars

Even though the cameras cut to Messi looking like a very good boy in his bow-tie, the talented pup didn't actually attend the Oscar's ceremony.

Parade reports, " Behind-the-scenes footage uploaded to Twitter and reshared by a pop culture account proved that the good boy's appearance wasn't quite what it seemed; that is to say, it was pretaped with just a handful of well-dressed folks seated around him."

Kimmel quipped during his opening monologue, "'Messi, who even though he’s a dog, may have given the performance of the year in Anatomy of a Fall,' Kimmel joked. 'Messi has an overdose scene, if you’ve seen it you’ve known it. It’s incredible. Honestly I haven’t seen a French actor eat his own vomit like that since Gérard Depardieu."

So what's next for this amazingly talented pup? According to The Guardian, Messi will have a role on a French television series.

If you ask me, other than Ryan Gosling performing "I'm Just Ken" and Emma Stone's best actress acceptance speech for her role as Bella Baxter in Poor Things, Messi was the star of the show. If only they had given him more air time.
