Jillian Michaels' advice on avoiding stress eating

Jillian Michaels is just like the rest of us as she navigates these unprecedented times. And with quarantine still a way of life, it is no surprise that the fitness expert is prioritizing ways to continue to maintain her overall health. During Yahoo’s Reset Your Mindset event, Michaels discussed the effects of the burden of uncertainty that weighs heavy on many shoulders. “Things are scary, crazy unknown,” she said. “We have our kids at home for those of us that have kids, we're overwhelmed in pretty much every conceivable way. And at times like this, it's absolutely normal to say ‘I can't handle anything else. I'm checking out on my self-care and all the other stuff that I deem to be more punishing.’ But one of the most important things you can do is invest in your self-care and prioritize your health right now.” Watch the video above for more from the former The Biggest Loser fitness trainer.

JILLIAN MICHAELS: Hey, guys. Jillian Michaels here, and I'm super excited to speak with you today about how to prioritize yourself during these crazy times.

So I get it completely. Things are scary, crazy, unknown. We have our kids at home, for those of us that have kids. We're overwhelmed in pretty much every conceivable way.

And at times like this, it's absolutely normal to say, I can't handle anything else. I'm checking out on my self-care and all the other stuff that I deem to be more punishing. But one of the most important things you can do is invest in your self-care and prioritize your health right now.

Here's some examples of very simple and straightforward exercises that you can do any place, utilizing just your own body weight.

First, squats. Now push-ups. Moving into bicycle crunches. Next up, dips. And the last move will be burpees. I want you to do each move for 30 seconds each performed in swift succession for three total rounds.

Ultimately, what matters for you is that you're showing up and you're showing up with intention. So download an app, right? Go on YouTube. Go on Instagram. Find a fitness influencer that you like, that you want to spend a few minutes with every single day, and do that workout.

So for example, I'm going to provide free seven-minute workouts on my app. They're there every day. Download it. It costs you nothing. Show up for seven minutes. But I am asking you to pick something that you like and show up consistently for it with the intention to care for yourself. Even if it's 7 to 10 minutes a day, that works, and that will make all the difference.
