In the five months since President Biden took office, we've been given very few glimpses of the interior decor of the White House under the new administration (mainly, just the Oval Office). But thanks to Dr. Jill Biden’s recent Vogue cover shoot for the publication’s August 2021 issue, we’re now able to see a room we haven’t yet seen during the Biden era: the Yellow Oval Room.

In the photo, we see Dr. Biden at work on her laptop, which is resting atop a stack of books on an antique table in the aptly named space. Oddly enough, the Yellow Oval Room also makes an appearance on the cover of interior designer Michael S. Smith’s book (published last year, by Rizzoli) about the Obama-era White House decor.

As for the Biden-era redecoration of this historic space, it appears that a number of modern furnishings from the Obama years have been replaced by antiques, including a velvet Louis XVI-style settee and a floral porcelain lamp.

Before this, our first look at the interiors of the Biden White House came on Inauguration Day, when President Biden was at work in the famed Oval Office. Here, he introduced a bevy of portraits and busts of historical figures—including Eleanor Roosevelt, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Rosa Parks, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and Martin Luther King Jr.—as well as the return of the royal blue Coat of Arms rug that was first seen during the Clinton years.

Also included in Dr. Biden’s Vogue cover shoot is a photo of the First Lady and her husband posing in the backyard of the White House, surrounded by lush landscaping and bluestone tiles.
