  • Jessica Simpson showed off her toned legs in a new Instagram photo.

  • The picture was part of her 40th birthday celebration, featuring a cake and flowers.

  • Jess stays fit by walking 14,000 steps a day and working out three times a week.

Last week, Jessica Simpson turned the big 4-0 in a big way. She posted a photo of herself rocking a 14-year-old pair of True Religion jeans that she could still fit into after her recent 100-pound weight loss. Turns out, the celebration is still continuing. In the fashion designer's latest Instagram post, she shared a picture showing off a cake and flowers in the shape of "40," while wearing her famous cut-off jean shorts.

"A week into my 40’s already feels like a month🤪," the Open Book author captioned the photo.

While the cake and flowers looked gorge, all eyes were on Jessica. Jessie James Decker commented, "U look 25 gf." Another follower commented, "Still looks 27 to me 🤗," and yet another fan commented, "Looking better than ever 😎🤩."

It's no wonder her legs look super fit. Walking was a huge part of her weight loss plan, according to Jessica's trainer, Harley Pasternak. They used his workout and healthy diet plan called the Body Reset Diet during her weight-loss journey. Jessica slowly built up to walking 14,000 steps a day, per E! News.

Jess also completed 45-minute workout sessions three days a week. According to Pasternak, those sessions included a five- to 10-minute cardio warm up, 20 to 30 minutes of resistance training and flexibility, followed by five to 10 minutes of cardio cooldown.

When it comes to her diet, Jess has three meals a day (plus snacks!) that are filled with protein, fiber, and fat. She also doesn't drink alcohol. "We did not diet in a tasteless, extreme, radical way," Pasternak said on Good Morning America. "[Jessica] loves Tex-Mex flavors so she had a lot of healthy versions of Tex-Mex foods."
