Jessica Simpson's family appears to be in full back-to-school mode as her two older children kicked off the new school year earlier this week.

The clothing designer—who shares kids Maxwell, 10, Ace, 9 and Birdie, 3 with husband Eric Johnson—shared a sweet snap to her Instagram account on Wednesday, Aug. 31 to celebrate her kids' first day back to school

"These two had an amazing first day of school!" Simpson, 42, wrote alongside the adorable photo, which featured Maxwell clad in a navy blue polo and plaid skirt while posing alongside her brother Ace, who was wearing a similar top paired with khaki shorts and sneakers.

"I'm so proud!" the doting mama continued in her caption. "Heart is full. Growin' up and ownin' it. Happy kiddos."

Simpson's Instagram post collected over 23K likes, including a double tap from pal Kim Kardashian, whose 9-year-old daughter North is good friends with Maxwell.

"One of Maxwell's best friends is North," Simpson previously stated to Us Weekly. "She is amazing. She is a great kid, and she will be a part of a change in this world," she added of Kardashian's eldest child with ex Kanye West

In March 2021, the Dukes of Hazzard actress opened up about the challenges of motherhood, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, which she says taught her "that I am capable of so much more than I thought I was," per People

"I definitely had to multitask on a whole new level this year, between my kids being in school on Zoom and being a working mom, keeping the Jessica Simpson Collection running remotely and pushing through inspired ideas that became endless and so many rewarded all while keeping my family smiling," she continued, adding that the difficult time  made her "reminded that my faith, God, husband, kids, extended family, friends, health and safety are all to be held with more gratitude than ever before."

"I have also learned just about every project with tie-dye and slime [and] every sport you can play in a backyard, and I have memorized what every single cul-de-sac in my neighborhood looks like," she joked at the time.
