These boots were made for walkin'…me down memory lane to Jessica Simpson's country-girl era.

The singer and retail brand queen stepped out in New York City on November 28 wearing an outfit that would have made Dolly Parton proud. Simpson's look began with a super-short cropped turtleneck and high-waist pants, both in black. Then the singer added an oversized brown fur coat and a pair of truly amazing thigh-high boots with cherry red cowgirl accents at the knee and toe.

To match the red of her boots, Simpson carried a bright red clutch bag and finished with oversized diamond hoops. A ’fit this dramatic deserves an equally dramatic beat, of course, which Simpson delivered with a bold smoky eye, a luxurious blonde blowout, and a very long manicure.

Altogether the look is pure Nashville glamour, which takes me back to the earlier days of Simpson's career. I'm talking about the Jessica Simpson who starred in The Dukes of Hazzard. The Jessica Simpson who sang “Come On Over” and, obviously, “These Boots Are Made for Walkin.’”

Jessica Simpson may be pretty much done making country music, but she clearly hasn't left the country music aesthetic behind. And for that, I am grateful.
