Jessica Chastain has a major bone to pick with the Academy Awards.

The Good Nurse actress recently spoke out to criticize this year's Oscars list of nominees, which notably excluded The Woman King and its lead star, Viola Davis.

While attending the 48th Chaplin Award Gala in support of Davis, the honoree for the night, Chastain, 46, made a point to advocate for more recognition of the How to Get Away With Murder star, with whom she co-starred in 2011's The Help.

"When I see a movie like The Woman King, it has Viola's fingerprints all over it," Chastain said of the 2022 film, which received no Oscar nominations, despite nods at the Golden Globes, BAFTA Awards and SAG Awards.

"A movie like that with a female director and a cast of powerful Black female leads can get made in Hollywood today because of Viola's lifelong advocacy for women of color," Chastain continued on Monday night, per IndieWire. "Maybe one day a movie like that can get nominated for an Oscar."

After her speech, Chastain continued to speak out against the Oscars snub telling the outlet, "Someone had to say it. I mean, come on. Not a single Oscar nomination for that movie? There had to be some Academy members in that room, right?"

Chastain herself has been nominated for Oscars three times, and won Best Actress last year for The Eyes of Tammy Faye.

She was also nominated in 2012 in the Best Supporting Actress category for her role in The Help. Davis was also up for Best Actress that year.

Davis—an EGOT winner—has four Oscar nominations under her belt, including a victory in the Best Supporting Actress category following her role in Fences in 2017.

Davis was also among this year's Golden Globe nominees for Best Actress in a Drama Motion Picture for The Woman King, though the honor ultimately went to Tár's Cate Blanchett.
