Jessica Chastain was a whimsical vision at the Chaplin Award Gala 2023 in New York on Monday, April 24th. The Acadamy Award-winning actress attended the event to support her longtime friend and costar in the film The Help, Viola Davis, who was presented with the 48th Chaplin Award. For the event, the actress slayed spring style in a black multicolored beaded tulle gown from the brand Zuhair Murad. Jessica is no stranger to colorful dresses—like the plunging ombré gucci dress she wore to the 2022 Oscars or the Barbiecore pink taffeta gown she wore to the 2023 SAG Awards. There’s no denying that the Molly’s Game star can rock any color!

Jessica Chastain Wears An Intricately Beaded Zuhair Murad Gown At The 2023 Chaplin Award Gala

Jessica truly looked like a work of art in the Zuhair Murad gown. The Crimson Peak star arrived at the 2023 Chaplin Award Gala in a black beaded multicolored ensemble from the fashion house's fall 2022 couture collection. The dress featured a deep V-neckline that plunged all the way down to her torso with criss-crossed rhinestone straps creating chest cutouts. The floor-sweeping tulle gown also had sequined accents and mirrored mosaic tiles with intricate beaded depictions of roses, moons, leaves, eyes, and stars all against a navy blue background. We can't imagine how long this dress took to make!

As for glam, the actress parted her ginger locks down the middle and styled in loose leach waves. To highlight her exquisite ensemble, Jessica went with minimal accessories (except for some silver stud earrings!) and she completed her look with a matte red pout and rosy cheeks to match the beaded details on the gown.

The award gala was first called Film at Lincoln Center's Annual Gala and it first honored actor Charlie Chaplin in 1972. Since then, it has been renamed The Chaplin Award Gala and has honored many of the film industry’s most notable talents. Jessica presented honoree Viola Davis with the 48th Chaplin Award. In her speech, she made a point to advocate for more recognition for the How to Get Away With Murder star.

"When I see a movie like The Woman King, it has Viola's fingerprints all over it," the George & Tammy actress said of the 2022 film, which received no Oscar nominations, despite nods at the Golden Globes, BAFTA Awards and SAG Awards. "A movie like that with a female director and a cast of powerful Black female leads can get made in Hollywood today because of Viola's lifelong advocacy for women of color. Maybe one day a movie like that can get nominated for an Oscar."

After her speech, Jessica reiterated her feelings about the Oscars snub, telling the outlet IndieWire, "Someone had to say it. I mean, come on. Not a single Oscar nomination for that movie? There had to be some Academy members in that room, right?" For the award show, Viola wore a stunning strapless black Jason Wu gown with metallic gold fringe detailing along the side, and, actress Meryl Streep donned a striking black powersuit.
