Jessica Alba's Daughters Called Her Out For Dressing "Like a Mom"

"Haven can fit my shoes, but she kind of thinks my shoes are dorky."

While many fans would consider Jessica Alba a master of low-key dressing (think about that covetable outfit from her Architectural Digest home tour for a quick reminder), her daughters Haven and Honor aren't too impressed by her style. In a new interview, the actress and entrepreneur explained that her two daughters (she also has a 5-year-old son named Hayes) are critics of her closet and that she didn't think it was very funny when they said that her shoes were "dorky" and that (gasp) she dressed "like a mom."

"I mean, Haven can fit [into] my shoes, but she kind of thinks my shoes are dorky, so she doesn't really," Alba shared with People. Haven is 15 and obviously very opinionated. "Sometimes Honor will grab some tops or something, but yeah, not really. We have different styles."

Honor is 10 and we presume she and her sister will eventually realize the treasure trove of items that are waiting for them in their mother's closet. Alba went on to say that she thought it was "insulting" for her kids to tell her that she dressed like a mom, which most moms can probably relate to, celebrity or not.

"They always say I dress like a mom, which is really insulting. I'm like, 'Oh my gosh, I could literally kill you,'" she added. "And they're like, 'But you are a mom.' And I'm like, 'Yeah, but you don't have to say it like that. So rude.'"

There are no hard feelings, however. Alba went on to say that she's glad her daughters have their own style. She added that the kids "love not having the same style as me" and they do "really love all my style recommendations, saying they would never wear it."

"So that's just where they're at right now," Alba finished. "And I'm like, 'It's fine. I promise I have good style. You'll figure it out one day.'"

Fashion aside, Alba explained how she sees parenting as rewarding and educational, noting that every single day, she's teaching her kids something new or learning something from them.

"They're either teaching me something every day or I'm teaching them something," she said. "We're learning from each other. It's definitely a back-and-forth." She also shared some advice, telling parents everywhere to "not take the relationship for granted, knowing that I'm always going to be there for them, and for right now, they're always going to be in the house. We have a really healthy relationship and unconditional love for one another."
