Jessi Miley-Dyer, formerly the World Surf League’s Chief of Sport, has received a title bump to ‘Commissioner.’ Miley-Dyer made the announcement at Sportico and SheMedia’s “Winning: Women & Sports” event on Thursday afternoon. Though there has not yet been an official announcement from the WSL, Miley-Dyer’s social media profiles have already been updated to reflect the new moniker.

The last time the WSL had a commissioner was 2019, when Kieren Perrow stepped down from the position. However, when Pat O’Connell took over, the role was renamed “SVP, Tours & Head of Competition.” In 2021 he was succeeded by Miley-Dyer, who was eventually promoted to “Chief of Sport” two years later, a position she has held until now. With this new title change, Miley-Dyer has come full circle.

The development comes at a transitional period for the WSL. In April, former Riot Games president of publishing Ryan Crosby was hired as CEO of the league. Crosby will be replacing Erik Logan, whose exit from the WSL in June was sudden, with no explanation provided for the resignation by the League.
