Jesse McCartney Explains Why He Literally Sharpens His Kitchen Knives Every Single Night
Jesse McCartney is the latest celebrity to show us around his Los Angeles kitchen in and let's just say his space is absolutely gorgeous. Between his coffee collection and his love for grilling, Jesse showed us all the ins and outs of his space.
Jesse's day usually starts with him and his fiancée Katie enjoying a cup of coffee. He uses a coffee grinder and a Fellow kettle (which he said has "changed his life") while Katie uses a Nespresso machine. One thing you'll never ever find in the couple's kitchen? Instant coffee. In the same vein, you'll never find fake fruit or a dull knife in their space, either.
While the dull knife might seem like a random answer, there's actually a pretty fun story behind it. Jesse explained that he's good friends with celebrity chef Michael Voltaggio (from season six of Top Chef), and one day when he was over, he pulled out a knife from Jesse's kitchen and laughed. Ever since then, Jesse is sure to sharpen his knives every single night. Now that's commitment.

The pair keeps a little bit of everything in their kitchen; they have items like beans, chili, and King's Hawaiian Rolls in their pantry, as well as a cabinet dedicated to all of Jesse's barbecue accessories. They like to pickle their own onions to add a kick to their grilled meals and even use homemade simple syrup for their happy hour cocktails.
In fact, they take their happy hours pretty seriously, as evidenced by the big ice cubes Jesse keeps in the freezer (oh, and there are frozen glasses that help keep drinks like IPAs cold when serving, too).
Not gonna lie, he comes through with a bunch of tips and tricks to use around the kitchen—like fresh grating your salt and using cast iron pans—that you'll have to watch the whole tour to find out. Go forth and be mind blown!
