The selfie with his adorable new friend at work sent fans into a frenzy.

Jesse Lee Soffer seems to have returned to his old stomping grounds.

The actor shared a new photo on Instagram that sent Chicago PD fans into a bit of a frenzy.

The series of photos explored the new friendship between Soffer, 38, and an adorable little pooch, including a sweet selfie of the new duo together.

“Made a new friend at work,” Soffer captioned the heartwarming snaps.

The mention of “work” piqued the interest of fans, who wondered if he’d already landed a new gig following his exit from the cop drama. Soffer portrayed Jay Halstead for 10 seasons before announcing his decision to leave the show in August. His final episode aired in October.

“Where’s work@ jesseleesoffer? Asking for a friend,” one fan wrote, while a handful of comments underscored how much they've missed him and wished for him to come back.

However, it turns out Soffer is not that far away. Though he may not be in front of the camera anymore, Soffer is now making his mark behind the scenes.

Considering his winter attire—which Halstead would definitely approve of—it’s safe to say he’s back in the Windy City and on the set of Chicago PD once again, this time in a new capacity as a director.

A few fans seemed to confirm it, with one even suggesting that the dog belonged to Chicago PD and Chicago Med costume designer Mallory Sabian, though that remains unconfirmed.

Parade previously reported that Soffer would return to direct episode 16 of the season, which is a few weeks away, as the series just aired its 11th episode on Wednesday, Jan 11.
