New Jersey grad student dances his way through the Big Country on TikTok

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Known as a platform to host users’ fun videos, TikTok is also used as a way to educate in viewers in creative ways. One New Jersey man is doing just that, showcasing smaller communities by dancing his way through Texas. Over the weekend, he two-stepped through the Big Country.

Texas is just the beginning for Steven Koprowicz as he dances his way through every US county. Why is he doing this? To spread a message of of small-town beauty!

These are the countries where TikTok is already banned

“Most people sort of just drive through those places or stay on the interstate, especially a lot of the rural towns, people drive through them,” Koprowicz explained. “You know, you don’t take the exit to see what they’re actually like.”

Typically, TikTok dancers will learn a routine and copy the choreography with music, but Koprowicz does it different. Truly letting go and embracing his body movements to the rhythm, he said his journey started after a recommendation from his sister from a singular video.

“My sister sent me a video of me dancing in Wyoming,” said Koprowicz. “She called me and was like, ‘ah! You should do this in, like, every county.’ I said I would commit to it for like, two weeks. Just, why not? And then I guess I kept going after that.”

Koprowicz told KTAB/KRBC the likes and views don’t matter to him, though. Instead, it’s more of a snapshot of the beautiful places people may not know about.

“I can show my family that this is where I am. If I say that I’m in Albany, Texas, that means nothing to them. They recognize Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin,” Koprowicz shared.

With the large order of stopping 253 times in the largest state in the contiguous US, Koprowicz cuts costs by sleeping in his car and making sandwiches for his main meals.

At more than 80% done with his journey in Texas, the 22-year-old grad student is travelling north next to the Wichita Falls area. You can follow Steven’s voyage on TikTok.
