Earlier this week, Jerry O'Connell jumped into action to help put out a fire when a food truck went up in flames, and now, the Kangaroo Jack star is reflecting on the good samaritan moment.

O'Connell and his wife, X-Men actress Rebecca Romijn, were on a picket line participating in the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike in Los Angeles on Wednesday, July 19, taking a break to give insight into how the Tomcats star helped diffuse the fiery situation in Malibu just days earlier.

When stopped and asked about the occurrence by ET, he playfully addressed his wife, asking, "I wasn't scared at all, right?"

And according to Romijn's response, the actor may be a real life superhero, after all, as fear didn't seem to be a huge issue at the time. "No, he wasn't super scared. We had a massive fire out near our house [several] years ago... Jerry stayed with the fire fighters anyway [so] he was helpful," she told the outlet.

However, after the deed was done, The Talk cohost did admit to actually being quite shaken up over the whole ordeal. "No, I was really scared," O'Connell doubled-back. "I actually, uh, I cried when I got back in the car."

When he first spotted the flames, the actor was in the car with Romijn and their 14-year-old twins, Dolly and Charlie. After witnessing sheriff's deputies pulling a man out of a vehicle and removing nearby propane tanks from the scene, the TV personality didn't waste time in helping out with the latter, according to TMZ's initial report.

He then pulled the car over and moved a gas can before climbing over a fence to grab a fire extinguisher, in an effort to keep things somewhat under control.

"We live in fire country, it's warm this time of year, and you just do what you can to help neighbors out," O'Connell said when asked about his decision to help in the heat of the moment.
