Was Jeremy Wray The First Skater To Grind Up A Handrail? (Full Clip)

We saw Leo Romero fight the current for his timeless Skateboarder mag cover. Since then, countless hungry rippers have taken their grinds up stream. I guess it only makes sense...

But who was the first one to do it? Was it Jeremy Klein? Jeremy Wray might have the answer.

Maybe you tuned into his Nine Club interview and heard the story. Maybe you didn't? But this is a good one! And anyone who is familiar with this clip knows...J-Wray was the first!

It was a random day in West Covina, and Jeremy was skating the spot with Jeremy Fowler. Tommy Guerrero had copped a frontside noseslide down it, but at the time, Jeremy was thinking upwards.

Pole jam? Hardly.

This trick deserves way more hype and attention than it gets. A ton of stuff was ground-breaking during this era, but this was truly next level. And it was a peak at what was to come. Just a peakkkkk...

Nobody was going UP! Hell, handrails were still just being experimented with in general. But Jeremy Wray—the psycho who Ollied the water towers—was inclined to get more out of this silly little pastime.

When everyone else was going down, he went up.

Respect is an understatement. J-Wray is a legend.

Take notes.
