Jeremy Scott Does Pop-Punk the Moschino Way

Every model completed the look with a towering, spikey hairdo.

For Fall 2023, Jeremy Scott introduces the Moschino customer to pop-punk.

The designer pokes at counterculture by roughing up brand signatures: The tweed suits Moschino's known for now have "ripped" hemlines, the tailored separates are paired with mesh underlayers, the costume jewelry and belts are upgraded with spikes. (The latter matches the lofty hair seen on all the models.) Punk style is often associated with safety pins, leather and all-distressed-everything; Moschino adds only a smidge of that sensibility to the pieces, often in the smaller details, like a safety pin closure on a jacket or a belt as a strap on a dress. The looks are playful, but not to be played with.

Scott also presents his own version of a "punk princess": Imagine a soft lavender gown with matching opera gloves — only, they're covered in a flashy array of gems.

The Italian brand's collections are often characterized by a sense of playfulness: Spring 2023 showed inflatable and eccentric styles inspired by a poolside in the summer, while last autumn played on Belle's gown from "Beauty and the Beast." With its funky hairdos and punk-infused dresses, Scott's latest keeps this spirit alive.
