James Holzhauer and Matt Amodio may be competitors on various iterations of Jeopardy!, but the two adore teasing each other even when the cameras aren't rolling.

Even though the two competed on Jeopardy! Masters back in May, James went on Twitter to recount a hilarious moment when he and Matt recently hung out. Although he didn't mention all the details of their get-together, James documented a moment where a dedicated viewer came up to ask him for a photo. But when he mentioned to the fan that Matt also was a famous contestant on the quiz show, things got awkward really quickly.

"Fan: Can I get a selfie? We watch every Jeopardy!" read the tweet James posted on August 7."Me: Sure. Do you also want one with my friend here? Fan, turning to @AmodioMatt: Oh, have you been on the show as well?"

Since longtime viewers know that James and Matt often rib on one another on social media, they would the whole thing to be utterly hilarious. "Brutal," one person wrote on Twitter. "Nobody puts Matt Amodio in a corner. 😂," another joked. "What's... pretty funny?" a different follower laughed.

While James and Matt were busy hanging out together, changes for Jeopardy! season 40 were being revealed amid the writers and SAG-AFTRA strikes. As Deadline reported in early August, executive producer/showrunner Michael Davies made the announcement while speaking on the Inside Jeopardy! podcast. Along with the news that upcoming episodes will feature questions used in earlier seasons, he mentioned that previous contestants will come back for another round of quizzes.

"I believe, principally, that it would not be fair to have new contestants making their first appearance on the Alex Trebek stage, doing it with... a combination of non-original material and material that was written pre-strike," Michael shared. "So we decided that really we needed to invite back and give a second chance in general to players who probably thought that their chance to come back and play on the Alex Trebek stage had gone forever."

He added: "We’re going to open the season with a second chance tournament for players from season 37 who lost their initial game, and winners from that will advance to a season 37 and season 38 Champions Wild Card."

Maybe this means we'll see James and Matt onscreen again sooner than we think?
