Ken Jennings is the ultimate Jeopardy! champ with the longest winning streak in the show's history, which led to being hired as co-host. But Jennings was humbled when he didn't fare well on a different game show.

On Sunday, July 16, Jennings faced off against Sex and the City's Mario Cantone on The $100,00 Pyramid, but only managed to guess seven words correctly during the Michael Strahan-hosted word association game.

Jeopardy! fans shared their reactions to the episode on Reddit, defending the host.

A fan opined, "It was the luck of the draw. He and his partner in each round chose categories that were slightly trickier. Could have gone either way." Another agreed, noting, "That exchange where Ken complained about getting 'salivate' and Mario said something like, 'damn right I got 'biscuit'!' is the exchange I've been hoping for for years. They're both right. Ken got harder categories, but he really should have a huge advantage. I wish I'd have seen him in the winners circle, though."

Despite Jennings losing, a fan noted that they enjoyed watching the episode nonetheless, writing, "I really feel like ken had bad luck with some of the words,, especially salivate and the word that came right after. But Ken and Mario are two of my favorite people, both are excellent game players, and it was so enjoyable. some of the celebrities they have on the show are so bad it makes it hard to watch."

Another fan wrote that they'd actually heard from Jennings himself that he didn't do too hot, and swore to keep it a secret until the show aired.

"Funny story: At a Jeopardy taping in October of last year, an audience member asked Ken about his appearance on Pyramid and congratulated him for how well he did. He told us he had since taped another episode and did not do as well the second time, then swore us to secrecy. I've kept the secret until now 😆," the fan wrote.

Though Jennings didn't get to win on Pyramid, he had better luck on Celebrity Wheel of Fortune back in May, winning $72,800 for charity while facing off against Jeopardy! co-host Mayim Bialik and Wheel of Fortune's Vanna White.
