Mattea Roach is the latest contestant making waves on Jeopardy!, and fans are celebrating right alongside the impressive champion.

Last week, Jeopardy!'s Instagram account shared that the 23-year-old Canadian tutor has officially solidified her place in the quiz show's record books. As of Tuesday evening, Mattea had acquired $368,981 in earnings and won 16 consecutive games. This puts her in 8th place on the list of most consecutive Jeopardy! games won (part-time host Ken Jennings is first with 74 games) and 10th on the highest winnings list (Ken once again tops the list at $2,520,700).

Upon hearing the news, fans expressed how thrilled they are for the rising Jeopardy! star. "Mattea your parents must be so proud of you! I just have one question, at your age how the hell you have so much knowledge? 😂 Way to go girl. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼," one fan commented on Instagram. "She’s so much fun to watch and root for!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 So impressed at her breadth of knowledge and all her experiences at 23!! Go Mattea!!," another said.

It's arguably never been a more exciting time to be a Jeopardy! viewer. In the past year alone, there have been several records broken by Jeopardy! champions thanks to some impressively long winning streaks. Earlier this year, champion Amy Schneider shattered the Hall of Fame with her impressive 40-game streak, which barely beat out 2021 contestant Matt Amodio, who won a total of 38 consecutive games.

It's safe to say the level of competition has never been higher. But for Mattea, it's a matter of taking things day by day. Regardless of if her streak were to end tonight or a month from now, she's already qualified to compete in the Tournament of Champions, a yearly competition held for the top 15 players of the prior season.
