'Jeopardy!' Fans Think This Guest Host Should Be Hired Permanently

Best known as Amy Farrah Fowler on the hit CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory, actress Mayim Bialik is already earning praise for her latest role as a new Jeopardy! guest host.

On Monday, the actress made her Jeopardy! debut following in the footsteps of Ken Jennings, Aaron Rogers, Bill Whitaker and others who’ve honored Alex Trebek’s legacy on the beloved game show. Over the next two weeks, Mayim will stand at the lectern and test the knowledge of contestants, something she very much appreciates as a neuroscientist herself.

“I can’t imagine not wanting to do anything involved with Jeopardy!,” she said in an exclusive interview with the ABC show. “This is such an iconic and unbelievable piece of our collective culture. To be considered to be a part of it, really in any way, is an immense honor, especially for someone who’s dedicated so much of my life to academia, to knowing things and to being able to communicate things.”

While she’s only hosted one episode so far, a lot of folks on Twitter are already calling for her to stick around longer.

“Excellent job Mayim! Professional, well spoken, intelligent, sense of humour...Alex would be proud!” one person wrote. “She is killing it!!! I’m enjoying her so much. <3,” another added. “She's going to [be] one of the ones to beat....that's for sure! Smart and personable, so....she's going to be tough to outshine,” a different fan said.

What’s more, many viewers immediately began rooting for her to be named the new permanent host of Jeopardy!.

“Wow! @missmayim loved you hosting tonight & looking forward to the next 2 weeks. Hope you are in the running for the new permanent host,” a follower commented. “She should be the next full time host! She has all the attributes- smart, funny and great personality!” another tweeted. “C’mon, PLEASE make her the [next] full time host!!” someone else said.

As of right now, there’s no word on who will be taking over Alex’s role. But according to executive producer and previous guest host Mike Richards, a decision will be made in late July or early August before the next season begins taping. Until then, we get to tune into Jeopardy! to watch Mayim live out her dream as guest host.
