Jeopardy! fans are ready to welcome Ken Jennings back to the lectern, and some folks believe they know when he’ll be making his highly anticipated return.

As viewers may remember, the Jeopardy! legend announced his temporary departure from the quiz show on May 6. After Mattea Roach ended her impressive 23-game winning streak, Ken revealed that he would also be exiting the trivia show for a while. The former Chase star “handed the keys back” to cohost Mayim Bialik, and The Big Bang Theory actress has led weekly Jeopardy! games ever since. While he hinted that he would return before the end of the season on July 29, no date was shared.

Now, two months later, a rumor is circulating on Twitter that Ken is scheduled to come back this upcoming Monday night. “Ken Jennings is not going to be hosting Jeopardy! this week (7/11), but he will be back one week from today, on July 18,” a tweet from a fan account read. “From that point onward, he will host the remainder of the games for Season 38.”

Reacting to the unconfirmed social media report, Jeopardy! fans immediately began celebrating the possibility. “Yay, we can start watching again! Thanks for the heads up,” one person wrote in the Twitter comments section. “This news made my day. Ken is the best!” another added.

Most recently, executive producer Michael Davies teased that a hosting announcement would be happening “very, very soon.” By the sounds of it, many folks are on the same page about who they want to see at the lectern in the future. “I am happy to see ken hosting next week and hopefully to see him again in season 39,” a follower commented. “And hopefully for all seasons thereafter 🙏🙏🙏,” someone else chimed in.

Although Ken has been absent from Jeopardy! episodes, he’s continued to cheer on the show from the sidelines. Most recently, he excitedly spread the word about fans being able to attend the filming of episodes again. “Nobody would be more pleased about this than Alex himself,” he wrote on Twitter about the news. “He was a natural showman (as anyone who ever saw a Jeopardy! taping can attest) and was never quite as happy doing the audience-less shows of the pandemic era. We’re back, Alex! 💙.”

Whether or not Ken is, in fact, coming back to host Jeopardy! isn’t officially confirmed, but that’s all the more reason to tune in on Monday night.
