The ratings are in for all of the Jeopardy! guest hosts who have completed their stints so far—and the numbers may just shock those who really loved Mayim Bialik.

Now that we’ve seen nine celebrity guest hosts (10 if you include Savannah Guthrie, who is currently manning the lectern until June 25), multiple outlets are starting to round up the audience ratings episodes received while each had their turn leading the beloved quiz show.

While some may not be surprised to learn that episodes featuring Jeopardy! legend and champion Ken Jennings landed at the top, others may be surprised to see Mayim, who received endless praise for her performance on social media, at the very bottom. Check out who helped garner the best average ratings below:

  • Ken Jennings - 6

  • Mike Richards - 5.9

  • Aaron Rodgers - 5.6

  • Katie Couric- 5.5

  • Bill Whitaker - 5.2

  • Buss Cohen - 5.1 (host of the 2021 Tournament of Champions)

  • Dr. Oz - 5.1

  • Anderson Cooper - 5.0

  • Mayim Bialik - 4.9 (after one week of episodes)

Now for some context—of course, these numbers are far from a perfect science and it’s important to consider a lot of outside factors when looking at these average ratings rankings. For instance, award shows, TV specials, media coverage of each guest host, breaking news events, warmer summer weather (which could mean more people away from their TVs) and other variables could’ve skewed the numbers in any which way. What’s more, we can’t discount the fact that Ken’s debut ratings in January were likely very high because it was the first episode without Alex Trebek, who died last November.

But even still, if Jeopardy! producers are referencing these statistics to determine who will be replacing Alex as the next host of Jeopardy!, we’d say Ken has a very good shot at being offered the permanent job.

Then again, once Savannah’s gig is up, there are still more guest hosts scheduled this summer who could shake up the ratings rankings even more. Following Savannah, CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta will be on until July 9. After that, we still have GMA’s George Stephanopoulos and Robin Roberts, followed by Reading Rainbow star LeVar Burton and Squawk on the Street’s David Faber. Finishing off the roster is Fox Sports commentator Joe Buck.

Executive producer Mike Richards, who received impressive ratings and heartfelt support from viewers, previously spoke on The Wall Street Journal’s podcast The Journal and revealed that a permanent host announcement will be made before the next season begins taping in late July or early August.
