After the news broke that Ryan Seacrest had been tapped as Pat Sajak's Wheel of Fortune replacement ahead of the longtime game show host's retirement next season, fans had a lot to say about the decision.

Now, 38-year-old Jeopardy! champion James Holzhauer has entered the chat, sharing his take on the whole passing of the baton.

"Wheel of Fortune went about this all wrong," Holzhauer, who also appeared on Jeopardy! Masters, tweeted Tuesday, June 27.

His statement, riddled with sarcasm and mocking the process Jeopardy! viewers experienced following the late and legendary Alex Trebek's departure, continued: "First you subject the contestants and viewers to an endless parade of temps who don’t prepare before hosting Then the producer in charge of the search says 'Actually, *I* would be the perfect host Then 'jk we have two hosts now.'"

Trebek hosted Jeopardy! for about 36 years, filming until about 10 days before his death.

After his passing, the show cycled through nearly a dozen temporary hosts–which included Katie Couric, Anderson Cooper, LeVar Burton, Aaron RodgersRobin Roberts, George StephanopoulosJoe Buck, Ken Jennings, Bill Whitaker, Mayim Bialik, Savannah Guthrie and Dr. Sanjay Gupta–in an effort to find a replacement for the star.

It took about nine months for the series to announce Jeopardy!'s new host, which ultimately came as a shock, as the network shared it would be hiring two talented media personalities to co-host the series: Jennings and Bialik.

Wheel of Fortune execs, on the other hand, only took about two weeks to decide who should be the new host of its new show. And despite the mixed reaction from fans, the Live With Kelly! alum and American Idol host was one of the names on our list of celebrities speculated to secure the gig. Sajak even predicted Seacrest's takeover of the show nearly a decade ago.
