Jennifer Lopez's Monochromatic French Manicure Is Subtly Chic

As of late, Jennifer Lopez has been switching up her signature mani. The multihyphenate normally never leaves the house without an almond-shaped nude nail in endless slight variations. “Rich girl nude,” “peaches and cream,” champagne shimmer, and “chai latte” are all some of the many iterations of her classic look—all with a soft almond shape.

However, earlier this week, Lopez stepped out on the red carpet for the premiere of her new movie, This is Me…Now: A Love Story, in a different shape than we are used to from the star: a square tip with crisp edges. Now, her style switch-up continues with another major moment.

Earlier this week, Lopez’s go-to manicurist, Tom Bachik, posted a photo of a new set he did for the icon. Though the muted nude French style was perfectly in J. Lo's wheelhouse, it was the squoval shape that caught our attention.

On each of Lopez’s nails, Bachik started with a glossy, hazy nude base that was a few shades lighter than her natural skin tone. Then, right where her nails extended past her fingers, the French tip formed. The tips were the same tone as the base—not a true white—just much more opaque, giving the mani a soft, elegant look. Instead of her go-to almond shape, the manicure had "squoval" edges (that would be square plus oval).

To make the case for square nail supremacy, JLo paired her outfit with a disco goddess ensemble.

For a night out, Lopez threw on a glittering, silver sparkly dress. A sleeveless design, it glittered from top to bottom in dangling tear-shaped sequins that moved as she did. To add to the drama, she put on a thick silver choker and some large matching hoop earrings. Then, she finished the outfit off with some coordinating rings, a silver clutch, and, the most dramatic part of the look, a fluffy and puffy indigo fur coat. 

Her makeup was the final piece of the outfit. In a similar shiny silver as the dress, her eyes glistened with a chrome color. On top of her dark eyeliner, there were fine-milled silver hues that blended out with a smoky color to create the perfect sultry disco glam. Bronzed and sculpted skin added to the drama, as did her signature glossy nude lips.
