I don’t always like wearing jeans, but I also don’t always like wearing, well, comfy sweats. Both have their “occasions” for which they’re considered appropriate attire, even though I say to follow your heart and wear what you want! But alas, it’s practically a fact that you probably won’t wear sweats to an interview or meeting your mother-in-law for the first time. So, what does one do when you want something more put together like denim but that still offers the comfort of sweats? Easy—just look at Jennifer Lopez’s latest outfit.

The singer was photographed out and about in New York City, looking as casual and cool as it gets. In fact, I just wore her no-fail two-piece spring combo: a cropped white tee and denim. But Lopez’s jeans weren't regular jeans—they were cool, comfy jeans that are going to completely change the way you think about denim. In fact, if you’re not pro jeans, you might actually be inspired to wear these—they’re genius.

Lopez’s baggy, billowy blues didn't appear to be made from the typical rigid denim—and a closer look shows that they, in fact, were not. The singer’s light-wash bottoms had a flow and sway to them, making them ideal for a hot summer day, walk in the park, rooftop brunch—basically, anything and everything. But it’s not only the breezy silhouette that made them stand out; J.Lo’s bottoms had a drawstring waistband that nixes the need for those uncomfy buttons. Talk about a brilliant pair of pants!

Sweatpant-like jeans are one of the best-kept fashion secrets, but Lopez isn’t the first to shine light on the hack. Paulina Porizkova professed her love for one particular pair of Rag & Bone denim joggers a few years ago, causing a frenzy of people shopping for said essentials. Fashion editors are fans, too—and for good reason. Pants that look like jeans but wear like sweats keep you comfy all day but look way more put together than if you were in actual joggers. Genius!

Not to mention, denim joggers pair well with everything, including cropped white tees like Lopez’s comfy sweaters for chilly summer nights or button-downs to make them totally office-approved.
