Jennifer Lopez Wore a Real $100 Bill on Her Nails to the 2018 Billboard Music Awards

Let no one ever, ever say Jennifer Lopez doesn't go all out. After a long hiatus from the music industry to focus on her television career, Lopez officially stepped back into the music world this weekend at the Billboard Music Awards, performing her newly released track "Dinero." And because J.Lo commits, not only did glitter and fake money rain down on the show's audience, but she had her nail artist, Tom Bachik, literally use a torn-up $100 bill for her nail art. To quote a different song entirely: Talk about the money, money, money.

Even for Lopez, who, back in the pre–Body Lava day, set off the original craze for glittered skin—this is new heights of excess. But Lopez knows what makes great drama, and her musical reprise means that talent has been back in action hard-core. On the Billboard Music Awards' red carpet, she looked incredible in a merlot velvet crocodile-skin-patterned outfit, complete with matching bra, leather skirt, and thigh-high leather boots. In context, as hard as this might be to believe, her nails were understated.

Just to say that a second time, so it can really sink in: A manicure worth $100 was not the main event. You had to look closely to even notice it.

Later in the night Lopez took the stage for her "Dinero" performance and wore black velvet gloves. That money manicure, that was just for her. To be fair, when you're a millionaire artist solidifying your musical comeback at the MGM Grand Garden Arena at age 48, you can do what you want. And she is—look at this.
