Jennifer Lopez Wore a Daring Halter Gown as She Walked the Met Gala Carpet Solo

Jennifer Lopez made her Met Gala return solo this year, as she stepped onto the red carpet in a revealing custom Ralph Lauren dress with a black bodice and pale pink skirt, which she elegantly styled with matching opera gloves and a netted hat.

Her appearance in New York tonight was a surprise to many fans, given that Lopez and her husband, Ben Affleck, were photographed out on a day date in Beverly Hills on Saturday, just two days before the gala. (Many celebrities had already flown into New York City over the weekend ahead of the event.)

Affleck was notably missing from the evening’s star-studded party, though perhaps that shouldn’t come as a shock: the actor is not particularly known for his love of major fashion events. Still, there’s no need for concern over the state of their union. Both members of Bennifer 2.0. have appeared recently at other events to promote each other’s projects. Notably, Lopez had a major red carpet moment at the very end of March when she attended Affleck’s Air premiere in a neon dress.

In early April, Affleck gushed to the SmartLess podcast about Lopez and the music she’s written about him. “The songs that have been written about me have been written by the greatest performer in the history of the world, Jennifer Lopez,” he said. “I don’t know if they are exactly about me, as maybe inspired by me, because there are some negative things in there. She’s amazing.”

He added that he was, of course, one of the biggest fans of her work. “I do love her music; it’s brilliant, and I know all of it,” he said.
