Jennifer Lopez Wore a Breathtaking Sheer Black Feathered Gown to the Gotham Awards
Jennifer Lopez had the opportunity to dress up last night, and she did not disappoint. The Hustlers star attended the IFP's Gotham Independent Film Awards in New York City wearing a feathered, fitted sheer black column gown by Ralph & Russo with Jimmy Choo heels. The dress was gorgeous, and J.Lo accessorized the look minimally. She just wore sparkling dangle earrings. Her makeup was a smokey eye and nude lip, very complementary of the whole look:
Lopez was joined at the dinner by three of her Hustler co-stars. Julia Stiles and Lili Reinhart matched Lopez in black dresses. Constance Wu wore a pink dress for a pop of color:
Lopez also had her fiancé Alex Rodriguez there as her date. He kept the sartorial spotlight on her, choosing to wear a minimal grey suit and black tie:
Lopez spoke to Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet of the Gotham Awards about her Super Bowl halftime performance preparation. It's just beginning: "I don't have that much time," Lopez said with a laugh. "We're starting."
"For me, I'm obviously going to try to put together the best show that I can, but it's also about having fun," she continued. "Just being up there, staying present in the moment and enjoying all of the wonderful things that are happening."
Lopez spoke to GQ earlier this fall about how she has no reservation doing the Super Bowl despite other artists refusing to do so because of the NFL's treatment of Colin Kaepernick after he took the knee during the National Anthem in protest against systemic racism. Kaepernick lost his position on his team the next year and was not draft by any other NFL team. In 2017, he filed a collusion grievance against the NFL, alleging the organization helped blackball him. He cited that "athletes should not be denied employment based on partisan political provocation."
Lopez told GQ that "no, [I don't have any conflicting feelings]. I understand people not wanting to do it. Everybody has to make their own choices. They have to feel good about what they're doing. I feel like it's an amazing platform and one of the biggest in the world to put out whatever message you want to put out there. Whatever message of love or—I don't want to give anything away—I think it's taking a chance to do it. I feel that it's a great thing to have two Latina women in Miami headlining the Super Bowl, and what we could do with those 12 to 14 minutes to make people understand our worth and value in this country.… I think it could be a really beautiful celebration."
