A Golden Globes ceremony without Jennifer Lopez is a waste of a perfectly good red carpet, IMHO. Luckily, even if she wasn’t nominated this year, J.Lo was available to light up the 2024 Golden Globes, accompanying her husband, Ben Affleck, who was a presenter and whose movie Air was nominated for best motion picture—musical or comedy.

This year Lopez dressed in the color of the year, a #Barbiecore shade of pastel pink. The actor’s body-skimming strapless gown was lent a little (a lot) of extra va-va-voom with a voluminous floral shawl that attached to a dramatic cape. Her styling was distinctly classic, with a dramatic side part and soft waves.

Speaking to Variety on the red carpet, Lopez was full of praise for her hubs. “Because when they say you know, you know. And other times when you didn’t know? You didn’t know,” she said. The actor added, “He’s my biggest fan and my biggest supporter as I am his!”

Lopez has twice been nominated at the Golden Globes. Her first nod was in 1998 for her starring role in Selena, and she was nominated again in 2020 for Hustlers. At that ceremony, J.Lo wore an absolutely traffic-halting Valentino Couture ballgown with a wide white skirt and an oversized double-bow situation at the bust using massive layers of gold and emerald green fabric. Because Jennifer Lopez has never exactly been known to underwhelm when it comes to her red-carpet fashion choices.

In 2023 Lopez may have been more focused on her music than on her acting career, having just released her latest album, This Is Me…Now, but that would be no excuse for playing it safe on the carpet. Luckily, Jenny from the Block never disappoints.
