Jennifer Lopez Shows Off Her "Bronx Barbie" Look and Baby Hair on Instagram

Stylist Christ Appleton gave her a long braid to complete the look.

Jennifer Lopez and her super-long hair are back, but this time hairstylist Chris Appleton decided to add some baby hair action for her on a World of Dance shoot.

"Braids and baby hairs the #bronxbarbie is back," he captioned a video of the style. Gelling down one's baby hairs into swooping patterns is a style staple of certain communities of color, particularly amongst some black and latinx folks. Hard to have a real Bronx Barbie without the baby hair, so Appleton tried his hand at the look with the help of a fine-toothed comb and a whole lot of hair gel. Costume designer Mariel Haenn took to her Instagram page to show the look from a side angle. "Baby Hairs ✔️, Silk Suit ✔️, Excessive Gold Chains ✔️," she writes.

As for the rest of her hair, Appleton braided in XL extensions to give her a braid that reaches past her waistline. It's so long, she had to keep it in front of her shoulders to avoid sitting on it. With her small stature, a waist-length braid is quite a statement — and of course, the star is pulling it off.

Aside from the silk suit and gold chains that tie the whole ensemble together, Appleton bumps up the braid even more by sitting it all the way atop Lopez's head and fastening it in place with a black scrunchie. It's very trendy and very '90s at once, and we can't wait to re-create it (albeit without the piles of hair extensions). Now, where's our hair gel?
