Jennifer Lopez and Shakira performed at the Super Bowl halftime show.
J.Lo’s daughter, Emme, sang a duet with her, and honestly, we are not worthy.

As a reminder, J.Lo and Shakira didn’t make any money for this performance because the NFL actually never pays artists for the halftime show—although it does pay for production costs, which are pretty steep. As an NFL spokesperson explained to Forbes, “We do not pay the artists. We cover expenses and production costs.” Before you flip the f*ck out at this injustice of it all, apparently, performers can expect their music sales to have a major spike thanks to the Super Bowl, so the NFL kinda views the performance as free advertising.
Either way, J.Lo was super pumped about performing, saying in a press release, “Ever since I saw Diana Ross fly off into the sky at the halftime show, I dreamed of performing at the Super Bowl. And now, it’s made even more special not only because it’s the NFL’s 100th anniversary but also because I am performing with a fellow Latina. I can’t wait to show what us girls can do on the world’s biggest stage.”
