Jennifer Lopez is taking a look back at how her postpartum journey shaped the way she reveres her body today, almost two decades later.

On Sunday, the “On the Floor” singer attended the Daytime Beauty Awards, and she presented the Outstanding Achievement in Fitness award to her longtime trainer, Tracy Anderson. “I’ve been doing a lot of reflection lately, revisiting the past versions of myself to fully embrace the me of now,” Lopez shared with the audience, per E! News. She continued, “I’m reminded of how much Tracy has inspired and encouraged me to celebrate every version of my body over the years and to continue to elevate as my own life and needs changed.”

The mom of two, who welcomed twins Emme and Max in 2008, spoke about how carrying and delivering children changed her relationship with her body. “I met Tracy right after I had my twins. I called her at a time when I was feeling insecure and uncertain, wondering if I would ever get back to how I was before — as most new moms do after giving birth,” Lopez recalled.

With Anderson’s help, the Mother actress learned to overcome the fears and doubts commonly associated with postpartum bodies. Lopez explained, “She came into my life and helped me embrace the new me and help me to be and to realize that I could be stronger than I ever had before.”

Over a decade ago in June 2013, Lopez looked back on how her pregnancy altered her relationship with her body in ways she never expected. “When I got pregnant I remember watching my back, belly, and butt grow and thinking, ‘I will never be the same again,'” she told The Telegraph, per the Daily Mail. “Then I remember right after the twins were born having that weird jiggly belly — and kind of loving that. Because I earned that jiggly belly,” Lopez said with pride.
