Jennifer Lopez Keeps Summer Alive With St. Tropez Dance-Off
What do Jennifer Lopez, Chaka Khan, and Angela Bassett have in common? They’re just a few of the celebrities who took to St. Tropez for one last summer hurrah to celebrate former NBA player Magic Johnson and wife Cookie’s 60th birthday extravaganza.
The star-studded event began on Labor Day with a day party at Nikki Beach St. Tropez. Welcome drinks, board games, and card games greeted guests including Spike Lee, Samuel L. Jackson, and Tina Knowles-Lawson as they arrived at the beautiful beach town.
The following night, which guests duly dubbed “club night,” was filled with serious dance moves and culminated in a dance-off between Lopez and Johnson’s son, EJ.
The pair danced to Teena Marie’s “Square Biz,” and Hustlers star Lopez flaunted some of her signature dance moves in a matching orange crop top and skirt, while EJ twirled in electrifying hot pink. It’s a fitting performance to add to Lopez’s incredible summer, which some may call her best yet: She’s celebrated her engagement to beau Alex Rodriguez, turned 50, and finished up her fourth concert tour.
The final night was set at the Citadelle de St. Tropez. Guests kicked off the evening with a formal dinner and were later surprised with performances by Chaka Khan; Charlie Wilson; Earth, Wind and Fire; and more.
The rest of us may have swapped our beach-season closets for fall knits and boots, and iced coffees for the steaming-hot kind. But there’s always Lopez and friends to remind us we still have two weeks left.
