Jennifer Lopez feels like she let everyone down with her Oscars snub, but she could NEVER
Everyone, and we mean everyone, expected Jennifer Lopez to at least get an Academy Award nomination for playing Ramona in 2019’s Hustlers. And it was honestly a shock when the nominations came out and J.Lo’s name was not on that list. Because the Oscar buzz surrounding her was so dense, Lopez says she felt as though she let fans down when she ultimately wasn’t nominated for Best Supporting Actress. And TBH, this breaks our heart.
Lopez sat down with Oprah Winfrey on Saturday, February 29th, during Winfrey’s 2020 Vision: Your Life In Focus Tour. When asked about the 2020 Oscars, Lopez expressed she felt “sad.”

She continued, “I’m reading all the articles going: ‘Oh my god, could this happen?’ And then it didn’t and I was like: ‘Ouch,’ it was a little bit of a letdown.”

And Lopez wasn’t just sad for herself and her fans, she was also disappointed that her personal team didn’t get the recognition they deserved.

However, we think it’s safe to say that Lopez’s Oscar nomination snub was not her fault. The Academy is often called out for being biased against people of color when nominating those who deserve recognition for their work. The Best Supporting Actress award ultimately went to Laura Dern for her role in Marriage Story.

Though Lopez didn’t make the list, she’s still one of the best supporting actresses of the year—both for her work in Hustlers and on the Super Bowl LIV stage alongside Shakira. She’s been on a kick-ass roll lately, and, if you ask us, it’s only a matter of time before that Oscars trophy is sitting on her shelf.
