Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are officially husband and wife.
The "Waiting for Tonight" singer and the Good Will Hunting actor were married in a secret ceremony this weekend. TMZ initially reported that the couple obtained a marriage license in Clark County, Nevada, on Saturday, July 16. People also confirmed that the pair tied the knot in a "super small" ceremony.
"It was super, super small. [Jennifer's] mom and kids were there," a source told People. "They just wanted to be married so they got married."
The superstar couple reunited in April 2021, decades after their initial, highly-publicized engagement in 2002. After a year of dating, Lopez announced that they had gotten engaged with an exclusive video published in her personal fan newsletter. In the clip, Lopez beams as she admired her emerald-cut, pale green diamond engagement ring.
In a later edition of On the JLo, the multi-hyphenate revealed that the Argo director proposed to her for the second time while she was taking a bubble bath at home.
Since reuniting, the couple has lived in Los Angeles, where they've continued to blend their families and spend time with their children—Lopez's 14-year-old twins Emme and Max and Affleck's children Violet, 16, and Seraphina, 13, and Samuel, 10. They've also spoken publicly about their reunion, with Lopez calling it a "second chance."
"I just feel very happy and lucky to be in a relationship that's happy and loving, and I want to do everything I can to protect that and keep it safe," she told People. "It deserves that, it really does. … We hold it sacred."
"It's beautiful the way it feels very different than it was years ago," she continued. "There's more of an appreciation and a celebration for it, which is nice. … When you find somebody and you really, really love them and you get a second chance at that? That is a really rare, precious, beautiful thing and we don't take it for granted."
Affleck also called their decades-spanning relationship a "great love story" in an interview with WSJ. Magazine.
"I can say that it's definitely beautiful to me," he told the outlet. "It is a good story. It's a great story. And, you know, maybe one day I'll tell it. I'll write it all out. And then I'll light it on fire."
