Nearly 20 years after they were first meant to wed, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck couldn't hold back their tears when they finally said "I do" this past weekend in Las Vegas.

According to a witness, the actors were quite emotional during their low-key ceremony, which was attended only by their kids.

Kenosha Portis, who works at The Little White Chapel in Vegas, told Good Morning America the venue was wrapping up for the evening Saturday when Lopez and Affleck walked in (per Lopez, just after midnight).

"It was so exciting. I mean, we were getting ready to close and we had a special guest arrive as a walk-in," Portis said. "I started shaking a little bit, you know? I was like, 'Oh my God, this is Jennifer Lopez!'"

Portis said the pair read each other their vows, which were "very sweet."

"They both were emotional. They cried to each other. The kids were right there behind them," she added.

Portis also commented on the Marry Me star's wedding dress, which she described as "a nice, elegant, beige, lacey-type dress that had a train on it. It was beautiful." She added, "Everything was very sleek and beautiful. She was stunning. She had a beautiful bouquet—a white bouquet—and he had a boutonnière as well that matched that."

Lopez confirmed the news of her and Affleck's July 17 nuptials in her newsletter, On The JLo. "We did it. Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient," she wrote.

The singer also included photos of the happy night, including glimpses at her two wedding looks—one a lacy Alexander McQueen dress "from an old movie," and the other a lace, off-the-shoulder Zuhair Murad gown. Fans quickly noticed that the first piece was pulled straight out of Lopez's Jersey Girl wardrobe, and was the same dress she wore on the poster for the 2004 movie she starred in with Affleck.

At the time Lopez and Affleck filmed the romantic comedy, they were already engaged, and though it's unclear if the singer was planning to wear the movie dress to their (postponed) 2003 wedding, she did keep it in her closet for nearly two decades waiting for the perfect moment.

"I've had this dress for so many years, and I've just been saving it, saving it, saving it, and now I'm wearing it on my wedding day," Lopez said in a clip shared in her newsletter and on hairstylist Chris Appleton’s Instagram.
