Jennifer Lawrence Shows Off Engagement Ring and Pale Pink Dress
Jennifer Lawrence was the blushing bride-to-be at the 12th annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic event in New Jersey on Saturday. The actress walked the red carpet wearing a pale pink dress by Rosie Assoulin while subtly showing off her not-so-subtle $100,000 engagement ring.
Lawrence recently became engaged to New York art dealer Cooke Maroney, whom she’s been dating since last June. The couple had their engagement party last month at the River Café in Brooklyn, hosting family and friends, including Lawrence’s fellow Oscar winner Emma Stone.
Lawrence had taken 2018 off from acting, but will soon return to the big screen with a role in the upcoming X-Men film Dark Phoenix. A source told Page Six that her decision to take a break was an unexpected move that few could actors could manage.
“No one would say that when you’re as big a star as Jennifer that you should take a year off, it’s not that sensible,” they said. “But she has all of that ‘Hunger Games’ money and she can afford to sit back.”
Lawrence has discussed her nonstop work ethic in the past, saying she finds it hard to cut herself off at times.
“I don’t stop working, because I am a show pony. I don’t have a choice,” she said during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert back in 2015. “So I just keep going until eventually my body is like, ‘If we don’t make her barf or pass out, she won’t stop.’”
