Jennifer Lawrence once got so freaked out on a plane she tried to jump out of it
Anyone following Jennifer Lawrence’s press tour for her new film Mother! knows how committed she was to her performance in the psychological horror film. The Academy Award winning actress has been pretty candid about her experience on the set of Darren Aronofsky’s latest film, which included Lawrence throwing out a rib and tearing her diaphragm, not to mention the Kardashian tent used to calm her down after especially difficult scenes.
Now in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Silver Linings Playbook actress explained that shooting the film required her to push herself further than she’s gone before and go to a really difficult place.
Lawrence explained how hard it was to lose control of herself, revealing that she’s been struggling with similar issues on airplanes recently due to anxiety:
“It’s scary not being able to control yourself — I’ve recently had problems with plane anxiety and it’s really similar. I’m not afraid of the airplane, I’m afraid of me on the airplane and losing control of myself,” Lawrence told Entertainment Weekly.
When the reporter responded saying that they sometimes worry they’ll stand up and say ‘We’re all going down!’, the actress added, “I’ve done that. You know when they hit an air pocket and it feels like you’re falling? I did it on a night flight one time, ‘We’re going down! It’s coming down!'”
But, her airplane anxiety has gone even further than simply announcing the plane is going down (which is not something you should do). She also revealed that one time, she tried to exit the plane while it was still in the air due to her anxiety.
She said, “I tried to jump out of an Air France flight once. I can’t believe I didn’t get arrested. I got really claustrophobic and I had to get out.”
We’re glad the Joy actress didn’t end up prematurely exiting the plane, because that would have been a WHOLE different story, but now we’re not so sure if we want to be sitting next to her on our next flight!
