Jennifer Lawrence Is Officially Taking a Break From Acting (For Real This Time)

Jennifer Lawrence has announced she's taking a break from acting, according to a new interview with 'Entertainment Tonight.'

Jennifer Lawrence has toyed with our emotions before when it comes to acting: The Oscar-winning actress, who in 2018 alone has two huge movies coming out, has sworn before that she's going to take time off—yet returns to the big screen again and again to wow us. This time, however, it seems like she really, really means it: She told Entertainment Tonight that she's planning to take the next year off to focus on political activism.

The last time we heard her talk like this, it was back in November when she told Elle that she wants to get a farm and milk goats. Which, fair enough. Previously, she'd told the Today show in September that she wanted to escape Hollywood to focus on pottery. Of course, when you're Jennifer Lawrence, you can pretty much do whatever you want.

More seriously, however, Lawrence has maintained that she wants to devote some of her time off to working with Represent.Us, a grassroots anti-corruption nonprofit. She recently surprised a group of Ohioan high school students with a guest appearance to chat about activism and politics, which is pretty cool.

"I'm going to take the next year off," Lawrence told ET. "I'm going to be working with this organization as a part of Represent.Us ... trying to get young people engaged politically on a local level.

"It doesn't have anything to do with partisan [politics]," she continued. "It's just anti-corruption and stuff trying to pass state-by-state laws that can help prevent corruption, fix our democracy."

Combing through her IMDB page, however, yields no fewer than eight "announced" projects—one of which she's listed as directing. Although these could conceivably take place in the future and not, say, right away, it seems like she's at least loading up her plate for when she returns from righting the democratic system's ills.

One project, however, that sticks out, is "Untitled Jennifer Lawrence/Amy Schumer Project," with an unknown plot but is "described as a comedy about sisters." Let's just fast-forward through time until we get to that, please.
