Did you know that Jennifer Lawrence is married to husband Cooke Maroney (and they've actually been wed since 2019)? The couple has been super under the radar about their whirlwind romance and private life, which is why we’ve known very little about the 39-year-old art dealer…until now. “He's just the best person I've ever met in my whole life,” Lawrence told Entertainment Tonight.

The pair were introduced by a mutual friend and they started dating sometime in 2018. Then, after getting engaged in February 2019, they tied the knot in October of that year. Oh, and the pair welcomed their first child—a son, named Cy—in 2022. “Fortunately, my husband is the greatest father in the entire world,” Lawrence said in a cover story for Interview Magazine.

Most recently, Lawrence was nominated for a 2024 Golden Globe Award for No Hard Feelings. She was recognized in the Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy) category alongside Fantasia Barrino (The Color Purple), Natalie Portman (May December), Alma Pöysti (Fallen Leaves), Margot Robbie (Barbie) and Emma Stone (Poor Things).

So, who is Jennifer Lawrence’s husband? Here’s everything we know about the 33-year-old actress’s relationship with Maroney, from when they were first spotted together, to their life as parents now.

1. He Works as an Art Gallery Director in NYC

Born and raised in Vermont, Maroney studied art history at New York University and even worked at the prestigious Gagosian gallery, according to The Cut.

He’s currently an art gallery director at Gladstone 64, which is located on the Upper East Side. According to the list of staff members on the Gladstone website, his assistant's name is Shelby Nelson.

The Gladstone Gallery is a contemporary art gallery that has locations in New York City, Brussels and Seoul.

2. He Has an Instagram (But It’s Private)

Unfortunately, Maroney doesn’t have personal Twitter or Facebook accounts. However, he does have a private Instagram page, which has a little over 2,000 followers. *Sends follow request*

On his Instagram, the only thing he has in his bio is a link to an article from the Gladstone website, which shows the gallery’s support for the Black Lives Matter movement.

3. He Met Jennifer Through a Mutual Friend

The pair were introduced by a mutual friend, Laura Simpson, according to E! News. Simpson is not only a longtime friend of the actress, but she was also J-Law’s date to the 2014 Academy Awards. NBD.

After attending the Oscars with Lawrence, Simpson posted a tell-all to Myspace, where she wrote, “I met [Jennifer Lawrence] seven years ago at an event where we both didn't know a single person. We hit it off over a mutual respect for Chandler Bing, and we've been eating pizza together ever since.”

4. They Started Dating in 2018

Although we don’t have an exact date, several reports claim that Lawrence and Maroney started dating in mid-2018.

They were first reported to be together in June 2018, when a source told Page Six, “They met through Jen’s friend Laura … The relationship has been going on a few weeks. But they have been very private and careful not to be seen together.”

5. Then, They Got Engaged in 2019

In February 2019, the couple confirmed that Maroney had popped the question. That same month, Lawrence debuted her massive engagement ring, which features a rectangular cushion cut diamond set on a white gold band.

On an episode of the YouTube series Chicken Shop Date, Lawrence discussed what it was like to be proposed to.

“[It was] terrifying, but very, very exciting,” she said. “I didn't say what I wanted to. I imagined it a million times, and then I ended up just going, ‘What? What? What?’ And then going, ‘Thank you, thank you, thank you.’”

Host Amelia Dimoldenberg joked, “Like a competition winner.” To which Lawrence responded, “Exactly.”

6. They Said, “I Do” in October 2019

Lawrence and Cooke tied the knot in October 2019 in front of 150 friends and family, according to reports. The wedding took place at the Belcourt Mansion in Rhode Island, which is owned by Alex and Ani founder Carolyn Rafaelian.

On her feelings about marriage before she met Cooke, the Hunger Games actress said, “I definitely wasn’t at a place where I was like, ‘I’m ready to get married.’” But she said on the Naked with Catt Sadler podcast, “I just met Cooke, and I wanted to marry him. We wanted to marry each other, we wanted to commit fully.”

Lawrence has since admitted that she gets commitment anxiety, but she's “so happy” she didn't call off the wedding. “I'm so happy I didn't freak out and cancel the wedding and run away and go, ‘I’ll never be taken down!’” she told The New York Times.

7. The Bride Wore a Dior Wedding Dress

During the ceremony, Lawrence wore a stunning wedding dress by Dior. The choice should come as no surprise to fans, since she’s a spokesmodel for the brand.

There are very few *actual* shots of J-Law in her sparkly gown, but you can get a few glimpses of the ensemble thanks to paparazzi shots posted here. For her engagement party, the Kentucky native opted for an L Wells bridal gown.

Several familiar faces were in attendance, including Adele, Emma Stone, Amy Schumer, Kris Jenner, Corey Gamble, Ashley Olsen, Nicole Richie, Joel Madden, Cameron Diaz, Benji Madden, Sienna Miller and David O. Russell, who directed Silver Linings Playbook.

9. They Have One Child (a Son) Together

Lawrence and Maroney welcomed their first child, Cy, in February 2022. In an interview with Vogue, the actress revealed that they named their son after the famous painter Cy Twombly, who’s best known for his scribble artwork.

After having a child, Lawrence has stated that it changed her approach to starting new film projects. “There’s no squeezing when you have a baby,” she said for Interview mag. “It definitely helps weed out projects: ‘Yes. No. Yes. No. Yes. No. Is this worth being away from my child for half the day?’”

The Oscar winner added, “Yeah, and fortunately, my husband is the greatest father in the entire world, so when I’m working, I don’t have any more guilt than the usual every day, all-day parent guilt.”

In that same interview, Lawrence also discussed the stress of having a child in the limelight: “I was so nervous when I was pregnant. I was getting paparazzi’d, and I was just like, ‘How the [expletive] am I not going to lose it on these guys when they’re taking a picture of my baby?’” But Lawrence notes that she tries not to pass on that anxiety, and she says, “The best thing I can do is just make sure he knows he’s loved, and that he’s our number one priority, and try to be a good example of kindness.”

“I always tell [Cy], I love you so much it’s impossible,” she said to Vogue.

10. They Value Privacy

Lawrence and Maroney are notoriously private about their relationship. During an interview with Vanity Fair, Lawrence revealed that it’s been a priority since the beginning of their romance.

“So, when I started dating my now husband, I was so embarrassed to bring my [security guard] when he asked me out,” she said. “I mean, how mortifying would that have been? So I didn’t, and it made me really nervous the first few times, and it turned out totally fine. I realized you get more privacy if….I don’t know if this is even safe to talk about. I have security all the time. Twenty-four hours a day. And a gun!”
