Jennifer Hudson's Teenage Son Learned a New Way to Meet Celebs & We're Taking Notes
It only took 13 years, but Jennifer Hudson’s son has finally learned how famous (and hopefully how cool!) his mom is. With that realization has come the knowledge that there are a lot of perks to having an EGOT-winning mom.
Hudson appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday and told host Jimmy Kimmel that her teenage son David — who she shares with ex David Otunga — has finally learned that his mom is famous. How did he learn, you ask? From TikTok of course!

David has seen clips of his mom’s talk show on social media, and instead of being horrified — unlike the teens SheKnows spoke to who said they want nothing to do with their parents on social media — he was impressed. So impressed, that he has stopped calling her “mom” and has started using her full name instead. (Seriously!).
And boy does he use her full name to his advantage.

“We were at the NBA All-Star Game and he wanted to meet [LeBron James],” she said. “And all I heard was ‘Jennifer Hudson! Jennifer Hudson, come over here and introduce us to King James.'”
The record-breaking NBA player “came right over” to meet David and his seven cousins. Ok, so all we have to do is have a famous parent to name-drop and then we can meet King James? Easy peasy! Just give me a minute to convince my speech-pathologist mom that a career interest is in her best interest.
“So your son is getting positive reinforcement from embarrassing you in public by yelling and shouting out your name,” Kimmel joked.
Hudson nodded in agreement and conceded that David now understands the positives of having a famous mom.
“When they’re little, they don’t know what’s going on,” she said. “They see the superheroes, and they’re cool, but not mommy.”
Even if David is shamelessly using his mom’s status to his advantage, we have no doubt Hudson feels the same way she did about being a mother as she did in a 2009 interview with Oprah soon after her David’s birth.
”It is the best feeling in the world,” she said. “No words can describe it.”
Now we are dying to know if David will start name-dropping his dad who acted in Tyler Perry’s A Madea Family Funeral. Meeting Tyler Perry could just lead to meeting the filmmaker’s goddaughter, Princess Lilibet, and her parents, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
