Jennifer Hudson, 39, has been busy ever since her Oscar, BAFTA, and Golden Globe-winning acting debut in Dreamgirls in 2006. Since then, she's gone on to win two Grammys—one for her debut album, Jennifer Hudson, and the other for her work on the soundtrack to the stage production of The Color Purple. One more thing she's been winning at? The anti-aging game. Yes, Jennifer is only in her late thirties, but her skin looks as fresh as it did when the world was first introduced to her on American Idol in 2004, when she was just 23.

Her philosophy is to keep it minimal. In fact, when referencing her skincare routine, she told Essence in 2015, "the more simple, the better." Though another contributing factor to her glowing complexion could be her cheery outlook on life. When asked about her thoughts on the pandemic, Jennifer told Popsugar that she's been referring to this time as "golden time," instead of looking at it as being stuck at home. "Everyone is freaking out about this time, but it's like, No, no, no, no — it's a good time for us to reconnect with ourselves and regroup and refresh." But back to Jennifer's skincare routine...keep reading for everything she's dished about doing.

She prefers clean, makeup-free skin.

In a video for Vogue, Jennifer shared that she prefers not to wear a ton of makeup when she's at home. "I like more of a natural feel for every day because I want for people to be able to look at me and say 'oh my god, you’re actually cute in person.'" She shared a similar sentiment with Essence in 2015 saying, "I want to be able to wear it when I want to, not because I need it. I like to keep skin fresh and breathing where it’s not always clogged up."

She believes in moisturizer.

At the start of her makeup tutorial with Vogue, Jennifer starts by saying, "I already put on my moisturizer because you can’t have dry skin and then put makeup on top." She also shared with Essence in 2015 that she puts cocoa butter on her face and body, saying she likes to keep it basic.

And the multipurpose power of a humidifier.

Jennifer shared with Vogue that she usually gets ready while sipping on warm beverages and with a humidifier going. “You can kill two birds with one stone with a humidifier because it moisturizes the skin to keep it hydrated and the vocal chords so I’m ready at all times. And then I’ll be ready to sing you down and look good at the same time." She even said she thinks it might be the humidifier she has to thank for all the compliments she gets on her skin.

She always makes sure to take some time for herself.

"I definitely keep my regimen of the things that I do to take care of myself," Jennifer told Popsugar. "Whether it's having my chocolates in the days or my sip of coffee, or my Olay Regenerist Retinol24 Max Night Facial Serum at night—I always like to have a moment where I do something that comforts me."

She skips blush in the winter.

In her true "keep it simple" form, Jennifer shared with Vogue that she skips blush in the winter. "In the winter it's cold and they're rosy and red, so I'm not gonna add blush on top of that. I let it be natural."
