Jennifer Garner reveals her top wellness practices, like exercising and meditating.
The actress also opened up about her skincare routine and the importance of wearing sunscreen.
Garner stays social and makes personal time by scheduling walks with friends during the week.
Actress Jennifer Garner is known for her great sense of humor, fantastic acting chops, supermom abilities, and so much more. But one thing we know for sure is that the 49-year-old has some serious wellness practices that keep her glowing and healthy every single day. From her workout and meditation routine, to her skincare and go-to sneakers for walking, we have the top five health tips she follows to be her best self.
She works out on the regular.
Over the years we’ve seen Garner crush tons of different workouts to keep herself in the best shape possible. She’s shown off her intense “Peppermint” workouts that keep her arms super sculpted, and she's even thrown some cardio into the mix with a killer jump rope routine.
“I never feel or look better than right after a hard workout,” the 13 Going on 30 actress told Shape in an interview. “One way or another, even when my kids were babies, I work out every day. That’s more my brain than my body.”
Garner previously told Prevention she kicks off her morning with Body by Simone, but she’s recently been working out virtually with trainer Beth Nicely. “It’s been the biggest confidence and endorphin boost. And it gets my cheeks at peak flush,” the Alias alum told Shape.
She keeps her skin in tip-top shape.
“I’ve focused on having the best possible skin that I can for my entire adult life,” she told Shape.” Because if my skin looks good, then I really don’t care about makeup or hair.”
The Pretend Cooking Show host has always been a big proponent for using retinol in her beauty routine. In a recent Instagram post, the actress shared her love for Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Retinol Pro+ .5% Power Serum, which you can buy at Walmart for just $29. The serum helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles, for a youthful glow and contains Neutrogena’s highest concentration of 0.5% pure retinol and a dermatologist-proven form of vitamin A to soften skin.
“You’ve got to find a way to introduce your retinol products,” Garner previously told Prevention. “That’s tricky for women because it can make you peel, it can make you red.”
She also loves a good firming cream, and the Neutrogena Rapid Firming Peptide Contour Life Cream is her go-to. The product moisturizes, while also helping to rebuild collagen and keep skin smooth and firm. “It just gives the skin a real youthful vibrancy, and a kind of bounce to it,” she told People.
And to finish off her look, the actress moisturizes daily and loves Neutrogena Hydro Boost City Shield for her face and Neutrogena Lightweight Body Oil for everything else, she previously told Prevention. Plus, she adds her go-to blush, just a touch of Stila’s Convertible Color to get the job done.
And she always wears sunscreen.
Garner is well known for her long-lasting partnership with Neutrogena and great relationships with her dermatologists. “They have drilled into me that sun protection is non-negotiable,” she told Shape. She opts for classic Neutrogena sunscreen on the daily: Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen.
“If you’re in the sun, you’ve got to have 100+ and you’ve got to reapply it religiously–and we all have to put more on than we think we do,” she previously told Prevention. “[Sun damage is] lurking under there, it’s hiding out, and when you least expect it in your late 30s it’s going to show up.”
Her combination includes an SPF serum in the morning, an SPF mist later in the day, and an SPF spray and stick she can keep in her car or in her purse for emergencies, she told Shape.
The actress told Shape that she’s recently started to meditate with Chelsea Jackson Roberts. Garner posts semi-regular Instagram videos of her meditating with Roberts, who most recently led a meditation session with Garner and followers to encourage finding gratitude in challenges and experiencing life completely.
She stays social.
Garner loves to take walks in between her sweat sessions, and bringing a buddy along makes them even more enjoyable.
“A while back, it was so hard to grab time for myself that I decided to devote one month to scheduling walks with as many girlfriends as I could during any free minutes that I had,” she told Shape. I called it the girlfriend project, which helped build it into my schedule. I’d say to each friend, ‘what time can you walk on Saturday? I’m coming to you.’ It filled me up so much. I need to do it again.”
And what better way to take a walk than in super supportive sneakers? From Amazon reviewers to nurses, everyone can’t get enough of Brooks sneakers. And Garner is no exception. She’s been spotted walking time and time again in these comfy shoes, which are available in 15 colors and multiple sizes.
