Jennifer Garner opened up about parenting in a new interview, talking about what it was like trying to give her three kids a "normal" life while both she and her ex-husband, Ben Affleck, were working actors.

The actress, who recently starred in The Last Thing He Told Me, spoke with Abbott Elementary's Sheryl Lee Ralph for Variety's "Actors on Actors" series, delving into their personal life a little bit.

Ralph said of parenting her two children, who are now adults, "With all the celebrity and all of that, I feel like I have a very normal life, and I think you have that similar sort of vibe. And we love our kids."

In response, Garner said, "And all the mess of parenting. It’s a gift."

The two continued, discussing their experiences with divorce and co-parenting.

Ralph commented, pointing out the two's similarities, saying, "And both of us having gone through divorce. You did something that I did as well —maintain a healthy relationship with my ex for the health and well-being of my children. With the spotlight on us all the time, sometimes that can be difficult."

The 66-year-old was married to Eric Maurice from 1990 to 2001, who is the father of her two children, Etienne Maurice, 31, and Ivy-Victoria Maurice, 28.

In comparison, Garner was with Affleck from 2005 to 2018. The two share three kids: Violet, 17, Seraphina, 13, and Samuel, 10.

Despite both women getting divorced, they also endured the experience and prioritized their kids, with Ralph noting, "But when I look at my kids, when I see you and your kids, I was like, 'Girl, we did that.'"

"We’re doing it!" responded Garner.

Since Garner and Affleck got divorced, the Air actor got married to his former fiancée, Jennifer Lopez, and the three appear to co-parent very well.

Garner is currently dating CaliBurger CEO John Miller, whom she's been with on and off since 2018.
