As a working mom, every minute Jennifer Garner spends with her kids is precious. Especially when she has to travel often and can’t be home every night to tuck her kids in. In a new interview with Thrillist, the Family Switch star opened up about her “biggest fear” when it comes to her kids Violet, 18, Seraphina, 14, and Samuel, 11, and it’s something many traveling parents can relate to.

“My travel is always so carefully orchestrated,” Garner told the outlet. “I’m always landing and skating right into a kid’s performance or bedtime.” Stressful, right? And because everything is timed so perfectly, she worries a little about something going wrong. “So my biggest fear is delays that could get in the way of making it to something for my kids. But those are part of life,” she added.

That is hard! But with how often she does make it to her son’s basketball game or her daughter’s school play, her kids should know that she would never miss something important to them on purpose.

The Alias alum, who shares her kids with ex-husband Ben Affleck, also opened up about traveling with her kids. “My family loves a good road trip,” she told Thrillist. They recently took a new route in the Pacific Northwest to see Portland and visit Montana.

“While our car had all-weather tires, we quickly found out that ‘all’ weather does not include Rocky Mountain winter storms,” she explained. “We found ourselves going through mountain passes during white-out snowstorms. As a parent, I try to remain calm for my kids, but I was petrified. I woke up at 4 am somewhere in rural Idaho so that I could be the first person in line when the Walmart tire center opened. I purchased tire chains and we set off to continue the last leg of our journey.” It definitely sounds like an adventure!

When it comes to her children, Garner is all in. “I just really enjoy my kids,” she said in a Nov. 2023 appearance on The TODAY Show With Hoda & Jenna. Garner went on, “I don’t know that I have some overarching philosophy. I just think they’re such cool people, and I want to hear everything, and I want to be around.”

“But I also think it’s OK if they suffer from a little bit of benign neglect,” the 13 Going on 30 star continued. “Where their lives are their own. I’m not trying to live their life, and I don’t mind that they see that I love mine.”

Whether she’s off doing her own thing or spending quality time with her kiddos, it seems like Garner is such a dedicated, caring, and fun mom.

These celebrity exes are getting co-parenting right.
