It's hard to trust anyone who thinks of granola as a treat, so we normally wouldn't take it there, but Jennifer Garner just shared a recipe that's pretty damn close to making it literal dessert. For whatever reason, whipping up anything yourself can feel unnecessarily daunting that you may reach for the store-bought alternative instead. But once you get past the whole homemade part of this, you'll realize Garner's recipe is pretty foolproof, tbh. This could change your views on granola forever.

The hearty recipe is made up of mostly oats, unsweetened coconut, wheat germ sunflower seeds and flaxseed. As for wet ingredients, Garner adds butter, honey, brown sugar, salt, and vanilla.

She then suggests throwing in that chocolate we've all been waiting for. "You can add mini chocolate chips if you like, or you can always melt chocolate and drizzle a little over the top. They’re plenty sweet enough but, you know, if you’re a chocolate kind of family," she says.

The actress, who's shown the internet how to make all her favorite foods recently in what she calls her "Pretend Cooking Show," is no professional, so there's hope for us to bake like her.

Most of the time, store-bought granola also tastes like stale cardboard, so only good things can come out of trying this one out. Bake a large batch as a make-ahead breakfast with low-fat yogurt or make it a snack to always have on hand.
