You know the embarrassment of sending a text to the wrong number? Jennifer Garner definitely does. The actress posted about the "humbling" experience on Instagram this weekend after she accidentally texted a selfie to a random stranger.

Garner was trying to reconnect with her Alias costar Carl Lumbly after the cast reunited earlier this week in honor of the show's 20th anniversary. She clearly thought she had the right number, which was already saved in her phone as Carl.

"Carl -- this is Jen G. Here comes proof," she wrote to a person who turned out to definitely not be named Carl at all.

The unidentified person on the other end of the text exchange very quickly wrote back, "Wrong number," probably wondering why on earth this "Jen G." person thought whoever this Carl guy was would need proof about who was texting them. That became clear moments later, however, when the person on the other end of the message received a beaming selfie of Jennifer Garner's very famous face.

Garner was very chill about the mixup, replying, "Hahaha well this is me" and then explaining the situation. In the screenshot she shared to Instagram, it's clear that her next message began, "I'm looking for my old" and we assume it continued "friend Carl." She did not share other screenshots of the rest of the message, so we have no way of knowing how the other texter reacted to the fact that they were texting with a famous person.

After clearing things up, Garner posted the interaction on Instagram, sharing the aforementioned screenshot of the exchange, along with the caption, "You know the one time you take a selfie to prove to someone you’re you? And get a “wrong number” message just as it’s gone out into the world? Well, it’s humbling, isn’t it. #IfYouAreWorkingWithCarlLumbly #PleaseTellHimImLookingForHim #BristowAndDixon."
