IT’S A MATCH: Accessories designer Jennifer Behr has teamed up with influencer and tastemaker Julia Berolzheimer on a limited-edition range of jewelry and hair accessories.

“Julia and I started talking about the idea of creating something a year ago after having lunch when I was in Charleston,” Behr said, adding that their love of color and pattern lead the way. To begin, Behr asked Berolzheimer to send over imagery from her personal design board to set the mood direction. “We knew we wanted it to feel very chic summer so we pulled inspiration images of poolside midcentury California and the Italian Riviera — very Jackie Kennedy and a lot of Slim Aarons photographs.”

The result is a mix of pieces with a vintage yet modern whimsy — think chandelier earrings that use turquoise beads from the ’90s with natural stones such as epidote, green and pink aventurine and rose quartz. Other earrings use natural stones with vintage Japanese coin pearls that are handmade piece by piece by local artisans over an open flame.

“I want it to feel happy and colorful, reflecting my personal style and the accessories I gravitate toward,” Berolzheimer said, adding that turquoise, her favorite stone, played a key part. “We paid particular attention to the tactile and visual aspects of each piece.”
