Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon know that real friendship means sharing important experiences.

In a new joint interview with Variety, the longtime pals and costars of The Morning Show reflected on the different ways in which they have bonded together throughout their decades-long relationship.

We’ve been in each other’s lives for 20-something years,” Aniston told the outlet. “It’s just in our DNA that we are collaborators. We’re partners. We’re friends. We’re girlfriends, we share all sorts of heartbreaks in life and love and everything.”

Witherspoon added, “There’s a comfort to that. It’s just mutual respect and years of experience. And I think we’re both incredulous that we’re both still kicking around! That we’re still working at this level is such a privilege. It’s an honor to get to contribute to something that’s really speaking about the world we live in nowadays.”

The Friends star agreed. That’s what we wanted to do: Make a show that said something and to show the conversations that happen behind closed doors,” Aniston said.

Aniston also praised her friend in Witherspoon’s cover story for Harper’s Bazaar’s August 2023 issue.

“I just look at her and I think, ‘You absolutely exhaust me, just looking at your plate,’” Aniston said at the time. “She is one of the most highly productive human beings I’ve ever encountered. It’s incredible.”

She continued, “There’s something about getting into your 40s where you just go, ‘I don’t have to fight this anymore. I don’t care.’ Fighting for your narrative? You are your narrative, so just trust in that.”

Witherspoon expressed a similar sentiment, adding, “I think you start to realize there’s a finite amount of time that you have to accomplish what you want to accomplish in this world and that worrying about other people’s opinions of you is a waste of your precious time. It’s a liberation in your 40s to feel free of other people’s opinions. I mean, they’re always there. They just don’t matter as much to you, and it’s a great feeling.”
