Jennifer Aniston Is More Than Just America's Sweetheart

It seems like only yesterday that Rachel Green was serving up coffee at Central Perk, but Jennifer Aniston made the jump from small screen to big without missing a step — and had some pretty incredible moments along the way. The last decade included ups and downs for one of America's most beloved actors, but she managed to find her stride wearing iconic LBDs and starring in critically acclaimed films along the way. The hair is different, but Aniston's still got audiences wrapped around her finger. Celebrate her best moments of the decade below.

Career: Fresh off of the end of Friends, Aniston kept to her comedy routine. She appeared in movies that played to what everyone knew and loved her for: namely, laughs. The early '10s found her starring in The Switch, Horrible Bosses, Wanderlust, and We're the Millers. Off-screen, Aniston became a spokesperson for skincare brand Aveeno, something she still does today. And to top it all off, in 2012, she earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, making her the first Friends star to earn the distinction. Adam Sandler was in attendance, as well as Justin Theroux, who happened to star in Wanderlust alongside her — the film opened the same weekend as Aniston's ceremony.

Personal: Speaking of Theroux, the two started dating and got engaged during the early part of the decade.

Fashion: Aniston cemented her red carpet M.O. Just about every single time she stepped out, she was wearing a monochromatic minidress. Sleek, polished, and sophisticated, she went against other stars' penchants to go over-the-top. And as for the Rachel haircut? It never made a comeback.

Career: Like her Just Go With It co-star Adam Sandler, Aniston took a turn into more serious fare. Her role in 2014's Cake, where she played a defense attorney dealing with chronic pain, earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama, a Critics Choice Award for Best Actress, and a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role. But she didn't abandon comedy altogether after that critical acclaim. She went on to star in Horrible Bosses 2 and Office Christmas Party.

Personal: In February 2015, Aniston married Theroux at their Bel Air home. The intimate ceremony — which only had 70 guests — included Ellen Degeneres, Lisa Kudrow, Howard Stern, and Chelsea Handler, according to The Mirror. Courteney Cox was reportedly Aniston's maid of honor. Jimmy Kimmel emceed the event and Sia performed. Details of the dress are scant and the couple never released any official photos. They honeymooned in Bora Bora after the big day, which Aniston initially told guests was a surprise party for Theroux.

Fashion: While there are zero snaps of Aniston's wedding dress, there's plenty of photos documenting her red carpet looks from the middle part of the decade. While she was hitting her stride in terms of style — simple and sleek, always — she started to experiment with various patterns and texture. Embroidered columns and intricate beading became part of her repertoire, but it never got too frothy or frilly.

Career: The end of the '10s would see Aniston back in the awards race. While she, like many A-listers, hit streaming services with Netflix's heartwarming Dolly Parton love letter Dumplin' and Murder Mystery — which would reunite her with Adam Sandler and reportedly set a record for the streaming service — it would be Apple TV+'s The Morning Show that would get her another Golden Globe nomination.

Personal: The end of the decade also brought the end of Aniston and Theroux's marriage. The two would divorce in 2018 after two years of marriage. There's no bad blood, however.

"The good news is that was probably the most — I'm choosing my words really carefully — it was kind of the most gentle separation, in that there was no animosity," Theroux told USA Today. "Again, neither one of us is dead, neither one of us is looking to throw hatchets at each other. It's more like, it's amicable. It's boring, but, you know, we respected each other enough that it was as painless as it could be."

"We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship," a statement from the two read after the separation. They're keeping true to their word, too. Theroux is nothing but supportive when he's dropping in on Aniston's Instagram account and even wished her a happy birthday on her 50th.

Fashion: While it seems like she's been doing it since day one, it really wasn't until the last few years that Aniston's embraced the LBD for just about every event. Sure, her daily fit will always be associated with green cargo pants and tank tops, her red carpet looks have been black dress after black dress. She found what works and she's stuck to it.
